England has bolstered their Test squad with the inclusion of fast bowler Jofra Archer for the second match of the ongoing five-game series against India. The 30-year-old pacer is set to make his return to the Test fold for the first time since February 2021 and will be in line to add to his 13 Test caps when the second match commences at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2.
The rest of the England squad remains unchanged from the one that was named ahead of the series opener in Leeds, where the hosts secured a five-wicket victory.
Archer’s return to red-ball cricket was recently seen in the County Championship for Sussex against Durham. His last appearance for England was also against India in 2021. Since then, he has battled a series of injuries, including a back stress fracture, which kept him out of action intermittently until May last year when he made his white-ball return.
